ABOUT US

Welcome to Five Oaks Nursery

Five Oaks Nursery is a family-owned establishment with a proud history spanning over four decades. In 1980, Sam and Betty Rivenbark founded Five Oaks at of our Wrightsboro location. Five beautiful oak trees graced the property, giving us our iconic name.

Phil and Amanda Miller purchased the business in 2026 and now strive to maintain Sam and Betty's legacy through a customer-first mentality.

Our nursery now spans across locations in the scenic landscapes of Wilmington, North Carolina which are supported by our 50-acre tree farm in Burgaw.

With a finger on the pulse of the industry, we understand the ever-changing demands of landscaping professionals and retail customers alike. That’s why our plant list is continuously evolving, ensuring we provide the most sought-after and high-quality plant varieties available. When you visit our nursery you will discover our extensive range of plants carefully curated to suit a variety of tastes and styles.

We are immensely grateful for the unwavering support of our customers throughout the years. Their trust in our expertise and dedication has been the cornerstone of our success.

Sam & Betty Rivenbark

Founders

Sam & Betty started off slowly when they began in 1980 with a simple mantra - take care of the customer. The business steadily grew over the years until they passed the reins to their daughter Monica. She realized landscaping contractors were an integral part of the plant community and worked hard to care for them as well as the retail customers. This focus proved to be the catalyst for longevity and success.

Phil & Amanda Miller

Owners

Phil & Amanda fell in love with the business from the moment they saw it in 2025. As they entered the business, they re-energized it with additional inventory and a modern approach that resonated with customers.

As they look toward the future, they are laser focused on expanding the capabilities and output of the farm while expanding to additional garden center locations throughout the region.
